Kainamui holds a special place in our hearts as one of the first Kenyan washing stations we sourced coffee from. It's a top pick for us. This coffee here comes in SL28 and SL34 varieties, delivering that classic washed Kenyan flavor bursting with Pink Grapefruit, Toffee, and Red Apple notes.
Operated by the esteemed New Ngariama Cooperative society, which also oversees the renowned Kamwangi washing station, Kainamui boasts around 1800 farmer members. While not every producer contributes coffee every year, each batch from Kainamui is a blend of beans from hundreds of nearby smallholders. The process begins with fresh coffee cherries arriving at the washing station from the farms, where they undergo color sorting before traditional treatment: dry fermentation, washing, and grading in channels, followed by drying on raised beds.
We're thrilled to have Kainamui back on our list; this coffee is a definite favourite at our roastery.
