We’ve been fans of Asman Gayo for a long time, and we’re stoked to finally have them in our line-up. This lot comes from the Pegasing district in Aceh’s Takengon region, where Cup of Excellence winner Asman Arianto runs his mill with a sharp focus on quality and community.
Sumatra’s humid climate means washed coffees are rare, but Asman has nailed the process — depulped, fermented for up to 36 hours, washed, and then dried slowly on raised beds or in parabolic dryers. The result is a clean, vibrant expression of the region’s volcanic terroir.
This coffee is rich, sweet, and layered — think ripe blackberry, sticky date, and stewed peach. It’s a testament to the skill of the smallholder farmers (80% women) who grow coffee on tiny plots here, and to Asman’s dedication to producing some of the most traceable and unique Sumatran coffees we’ve ever tasted.
